Quarterpole

Brogue is a roguelike adventure game for the Mac based upon the classic adventure game Rogue (first developed back in 1980). The levels, characters and enemies are all represented using letters and symbols, which may strike you as a bit odd but it's actually a great representation of a world.

Central Intelligence1994Strategy
Central Intelligence is a game of strategy and espionage, based on the fictional island of Sao Madrigal, off the coast of Brazil, which is currently run by a corrupt dictatorship. This dictatorship is supported by the Chinese government and, as a result, damages the U.S.A.'s interests in the region. You play as a CIA chief, tasked with restoring democracy by any means necessary. You are presented with a satellite overview of Sao Madrigal, and after a few clicks you can see the current leanings of the people in certain areas, represented by blue (opposition party, your side) or red (dictatorship's side)..

Space Adventure Cobra1994Adventure
One of the best games to ever grace the Sega CD system, The Space Adventure is unlike anything you have ever played before. More of an interactive comic book than a game, it will get anyone interested in good sci-fi stories and/or Japanese animation interested in the adventures of Cobra. The action in the game isn't like anything else. It sort of combines the 'tell the character what to do' aspect of an RPG with the graphic adventure element of, say, Dragon's Lair and Space Ace. The graphics are not one long animation sequence as with those titles, but the combination..

Aliens vs Predator2010Arcade action
Set in the science fiction realms of the film franchise crossover, Aliens vs. Predator is a high-definition action-adventure composed of tense, violent, kill-or-be-killed scenarios. Following the design concept of earlier AvP shooters, the game pits three different factions against one another. Players take the roles of deadly xenomorph aliens, stealthy predators, and heavily armed space marines, to do battle with enemies from the other two factions. Evolved to protect the brood, the alien xenomorphs are unmatched in melee combat, and excel at surprise attacks with their overpowering strength. Born of a species of hunters, the predator is a master of..

Striker (from Rage)1992Sports
Rage's first entry in the Striker series is an ambitious soccer game that boasts smooth graphics, but with no element of excitement. Gets the red card for lack of playability. In short, Striker is a footie game from the arcade action school of thought a la Sensible Soccer: heavy on speed and frantic play, low on realism. Unfortunately, poor controls and blocky graphics make it much less fun than the Sensible Software classic. What you end up with is a soccer game that's fast and slick, but nowhere near as much fun as it could have been. Fortunately Rage would improve..

Synnergist1996Adventure
Now here's an adventure game that one doesn't hear much about, partly because of its Europe-only release. Synnergist was the first release by then-newcomer Vicarious Visions. I wasn't sure what to expect. However, if there's one thing I do enjoy, it's games about a mystery. The back of the box sets up the game well: '2010 AD: New Arhus; a city tormented by every crime imaginable; murders, muggings, drug dealing and prostitution. Tim Machin, a reporter both underpaid and overworked, finds himself on the trail of a sinister force that appears to be connected to the crime and killing. Unable to..

Al Unser Jr. Arcade Racing1995Sports
Al Unser, JR. from Mindscape is one of the first games that has been developed for Windows 95. One of the first elements I'd like to mention is that Al Unser, JR. is not a driving simulation like IndyCar or Formula Grand Prix, and anyone who would try to compare this game to those I just mentioned would be a fool or too old to know what arcade centers are all about. Therefore as an arcade racing game, it is pointless to talk about the car's dynamics, track realism, or any other thing that brings a simulation close to reality..

Spelling Jungle: Yobi's Basic Spelling Tricks1993Educational
Play store. Spelling Jungle (also known as Yobi's Basic Spelling Tricks) is an educational game with puzzle elements. The general objective of the game is to paddle a raft up a river, preventing it from flooding. The game consists of two main gameplay modes: solving a word-spelling puzzle on the 'puzzle map', and participating in a simple spelling test. Vektor Storm1994Amiga
Simplicity is everything. All that is great in this world can be attributed to the fact that it has intrinsic simplicity at its core. The second movement of Mozart's Piano Concerto Number 21 (in E flat) is a fantastically structured piece of elegant simplicity. The Japanese Haiku poems present beautiful miniatures of facile grace, and Amanda de Cadenet is a good example of a person who is both beautiful and extremely simple. We all harbour the optimistic, and possibly naive, view that the answer to the mysteries of life, the universe and everything will actually turn out to be a..

Game For Macbook Pro

Game two of the Week 5 double-header hearkened back to the low-scoring days of yore..
The Pembroke Gentlemen's Basketball Association hits the quarter-pole this week - Week 5 action saw a lunch-bucket style effort in one game, and a miraculous last-minute comeback in the second.
In the early tilt, River Fitness was looking to come out of the first schedule rotation in perfect 'four and oh' form; standing in their way was the pure physicality that is the Petawawa Stags.
River Fitness jumped out to a 40-32 lead in the first half, led by the bruising tandem of Nick Hallett and Kyle Wilson, while the Stags distributed their scoring load with a consistent array of mid-range jumpers and nifty shots in the paint. Eric Rogers once again increased the value of his trading card with a fantastic 15 points in the second half for the Stags, but a lack of a deep bench wore the larger Stags down over time. With the patience of an anaconda, River Fitness slowly choked the life out of the Stags, resulting in a final score in their favour, 72-55.
The still-unbeaten River Fitness were led by Hallett with 18 points, while Moh Sabriye cooled off slightly with a mild 17 points. Wilson and D-league call up Pete Tumber had excellent games with 15 points each. The Stags attack was helmed by Rogers with 23 points to lead all scorers, while Phil Dampier, Brandon Campbell and Brock Fitzsimmons chipped in 13, 11 and 10 points respectively.
If you paid for tickets for the second game, what you saw may not necessarily have been a thing of offensive beauty. But for the defensive purist, the game between the New Warriors and Dineamics smacked of the gridiron in the 40s. Fans were treated to a grind-em-out slugfest, leaving the gym maintainers to repaint the rims for so many errant shots.
New Warriors came out onto the floor with excellent energy, using their active hands and a hounding defensive strategy to force Dineamics into less than optimal shot selection. Stefan Bergh tore the paint up to the tune of 10 first-half points, while Dineamics could not muster any more than 6 points by their best player.
Somehow down by only three at the half, team captain Jamie MacDonald implored Dineamics to 'get out there and play with energy - and make some layups!!'. Once the second half started, MacDonald proceeded to clang two three-point shots off the rim, and failed to get back on defense after, leading to a 7-0 run by the Warriors to lead by 10. MacDonald subsequently benched himself to teach himself a lesson - a lesson which paid off handsomely!
Down by 11 with three minutes left, MacDonald reinserted himself into the game and proceeded to play the two minutes of his life - a tipped inbound leading to a steal and two points, another steal leading to an assisted layup, a coast-to-coast lay-in after another steal, and finally a teardrop jumper from 12 feet to vault Dineamics back into the game. Clearly demoralized, the New Warriors tried to stem the suddenly changing tide, but it was too late - Dineamics had pulled out the miracle comeback, winning 46-41 in a game that could be both heralded for eternity, and simultaneously eradicated from the record.
For Dineamics, who evened their record for the season at 2-2, Rusty Van Diepeningen had an off night, yet still more than doubled the scoring of any of his mates by dropping 18 critical points. Dave Noble added 8 points, while MacDonald finished with a mere 7 points, but made play after play in the final minutes to seal the victory.
New Warriors were led by a career-high by Bergh with 16 of the hardest points that will be scored on a court, while Kyle Bertrand chipped in 14 points of his own as the Warriors let one slip through their fingers.
